Our beloved “Monsters Of Funk & Soul” party has become an important part in the Duesseldorf scene. For already three years ‘the monsters are in da house’ – twice a year and full of funk and soul. So it’s totally about time to give that party its own compilation – just in time for the next MOFAS Unique will release that compilation to get you the monsters into your home and to push away the cold autumn. After two successful singles and their strong debut album “Sniffin’ and Snatchin”, The Soul Snatchers are back with yet another promising single! This is just one tasty morsel from their forth coming album in 2010. ‘Real Soul music never dies’. This is what the insatiable musicians of Dutch band, The Soul Snatchers prove every time they treat a swinging crowd to their timeless, down-to-earth Funk and Soul tunes. It is powerfully clear that their roots are buried deep in the sexy sixties and seventies, of the 20th century. Continue reading
The sun is shining, waves are gently crashing on the beach, birds are chirping – all’s well at our quaint resort on Germany’s Baltic coast, during this weekend in April. But wait? There’s something happening here, what it is ain’t exactly … apparent. Juvenile hipsters and well-aged soul freaks mingle happily with holidaying families and silver-haired regulars. A legendary soul diva relaxes next to a notorious funk god on a makeshift sundeck, while all around them people laugh and dance: guys with their girls, kids with their mothers, and some men even with their wives. I couldn’t encourage Phil Martin more than with these words from War, my favorite band: “Keep on doing what you doing, cause whatever you are doing, it sure sounds good to me”. Without a doubt he is one of the hardest working people in the field of Dutch nu jazz and funk. Whether working as a producer, musician or remixer, every week one or more songs come flowing out of his studio. Continue reading
Notoire muurbloempjes gelieve nu af te haken. The Soul Snatchers zullen jullie namelijk zonder mededogen of aanzien des persoons de dansvloer opmeppen.
Continue reading
After two killer 45 releases so far, this Dutch Funk outfit have delivered a superb album, and so I’m not surprised that they are so rated. I’ve not had the honour of seeing them live yet but, although it sounds like it was recorded in the vintage way (on tape) the production is actually very modern sounding. Continue reading
Dutch group The Soul Snatchers aren’t doing anything new, but for a genre that’s fixed in the seventies, that’s not a bad thing. “Sniffin and Snatchin” is a platform heeled step back in time; clear platforms with fish in the soles! Continue reading
Worth buying alone for the lead track ‘The Approaching Target’ and it’s swirling hammond and wah wah led mid tempo perfection. The rest of the LP goes between up tempo vocal soul and gut bustin funk instrumentals, all played with a deep understanding of the genre and tightly produced to give that authentic sound. Yet another band that we’re gonna have to get to play at Jelly Jazz sometime!
Continue reading
Real Soul Music never dies. That’s what the insatiable musicians of the Dutch band The Soul Snatchers prove every time they treat a swinging crowd to their timeless, down to earth funk and soul tunes, that find their roots in the sexy Sixties and Seventies of the 20th century. Taking pure Soul Music right across the bridge into the new century, The Soul Snatchers combine unknown classics and original compositions into a show that not only appeals to connoisseurs, but just as well to bigger, more mainstream-oriented audiences. The Soul Snatchers don’t claim to have invented Soul Music. Neither do they pretend to re-invent it. They… just HAVE it! And they LOVE to share it with Funk- Soul lovers in every corner of the globe.
Founded rock solid on the well oiled rhythm section of clean drums and thumping bass, the dangerously growling Hammond organ and the reverbing guitar sounds find their way to your soul blindly. Add to that the threeheaded copper section The Dynamite Horns, the tormented throat of female singer YoYo and the charismatic performances of singer Curtis T. and special guest vocalist Jimi Bellmartin…and all ingredients for a real Soul Party are present.
In February 2008 The Soul Snatchers’ first full album will be released with mainly original compositions, named ‘Sniffin’ and Snatchin’ The 11 short’n’spicy soul tracks with the Sixties Sound all over them result in an album with a good old LP-length. So… no wonder ‘Sniffin’ and Snatchin’ ‘ is available on nice crispy black vinyl!
